Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim In Kaduna, Kill Terrorist

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and foiled a terrorist attack in Sokoto State as part of sustained operations to restore peace across the North West region.

The media and information officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued yesterday in Gusau.

According to him, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on August 20, 2026 following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia local government area of Kaduna State.

“Troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes, compelling them to abandon their captive and flee. The rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family,” Danja said.

In a related development, troops of Sector 2, in conjunction with local security elements, on Friday responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State, engaged the attackers and forced them to withdraw in disarray.

“During the subsequent pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, one terrorist was neutralised, while troops recovered 2 mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene,” he added.

The Theatre Command reassured residents that Operation Fansan Yamma remains resolute in sustaining the tempo of ongoing operations to deny terrorists freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.

It also urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security forces to support efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
