Western oil giants reap big windfall as U.S. war on Iran drives up energy prices

Eight of the world’s largest oil companies, most of them based in Western countries, reported combined profits of nearly $93 billion in the three months through June, as the U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran drove global energy prices sharply higher, according to an analysis by The Guardian.

The companies — BP, Shell, Equinor, TotalEnergies, Eni, Chevron, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco — earned a combined profit of more than $700,000 a minute during the quarter, the analysis found.
