His Excellency Prince Kola Adewusi is Gov. Ademola Adeleke’s deputy in Osun State. But he is usually not in the news. All through the countdown to the August 15 elections, not much was heard about this seasoned Osun politician who hails from Ile-Ife. He assumed office with the governor on 27th November 2022. He was deputy to Gov. Ademola Adeleke when Adeleke retained him as running mate on Accord platform for the 2026 election.
Adewusi was the Accord Party Deputy governorship candidate and they won re-election on 16th August 2026. He even won his polling unit in Ife-East with 218 votes. He has a rich politicial pedigree having served the PDP. He helped reconcile PDP crisis in Ife Federal Constituency in 2025.
A politician with diverse knowledge in local, national, and international politics spanning so many years, Prince Kola Adewusi is a proud native of Ile-Ife, in the present-day Ife Central Local Government of Osun state.
The young Prince of Ile-Ife extraction had his secondary education at the popular Ife Anglican Grammar School, Ile-Ife. Not done with his quest to acquire more education, the Polytechnic, Ibadan was his next port of call where he studied Banking and Finance.
A shrewd businessman and politician, Prince Adewusi had a lucrative business career at Obasanjo Holdings Limited, a business conglomerate of the former president, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo where he rose through the ranks to the position of a General Manager.
Prince Kola Adewusi was a former Chairman, Ife Central Local Government, Ile-Ife, during the administration of former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
A quiet, brilliant, and astute politician who combines diligence with rare ability in and outside the political arena, where he has been a key stakeholder for many years, Prince Adewusi was once a Special Adviser also under the administration of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and a Financial Secretary of PDP, Osun State.
Unarguably, the most loyal and hard-working deputy governor to the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke since 2022, Prince Kola Adewusi has been serving beautifully in this capacity up till date. He is married to Deaconess Olusola Adewusi and the union is blessed with children who are doing very well in life.
Why is he not well know nationally? Why is he not always not in the news? Why does he like to keep a low profile? There are 3 main reasons. (1) He is a deputy in a deputy role. In Nigeria deputy governors rarely get spotlight unless there is crisis or they are acting as Governors.
In Osun, Gov. Ademola Adeleke is the one who does all the rallies, viral dances, federal meetings and media attention. Adewusi’s job has been more behind-the-scene, it has been more of governance, reconciliation and party management. (2) He is quiet by nature & a party stabilizer. He is a reconciler. He hosted the PDP reconciliation meeting in Ife in September 2025 to resolve the crisis in Ife federal constituency. He has also not been involved in scandals and dramas, unlike some deputies. He also doesn’t make controversial statements. That has kept him out of the headlines.
(3) Since 2022 all media attention has been on Adeleke, the dancing governor who is behind the Imole brand. But he is well known in Osun, especially Ife. Party leaders in Ife know him.
So, Kola Adewusi is not always in the news because he chose to play the quiet deputy role. Adeleke is the face. Adewusi’s job is Structure, not show.
