Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Husband to Death During Domestic Dispute

Police in Nakuru County, Kenya, have arrested a 37-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband during a domestic altercation at their home in Rongai Constituency.

The suspect, identified as Caroline Chebet, allegedly stabbed her 27-year-old husband, Alphonse Ochieng, following a dispute.

According to neighbours, the couple had a history of frequent domestic quarrels, with several attempts by community members to reconcile them proving unsuccessful.

One of the neighbours, Ochieng Otieno, said the argument began around midnight and initially drew little attention because such incidents had become common.

“Their wrangles started at midnight, and it was normal to us because they always scuffled. We heard the lady screaming that someone’s child would die, but we thought it was their private matter, so no neighbour stepped out. Later, we heard that he had died,” he said.

Speaking after the incident, the deceased’s brother, Stephen Otieno, said he rushed to the hospital after receiving news of the attack, only to learn that his brother had succumbed to his injuries.

He later visited the Annex Mortuary, where he identified his brother’s body.

“I was referred to Annex Mortuary where I found my brother lying there with a stab wound. He was stabbed deep in the abdomen. I came here to view his body,” he said.

Police have taken the suspect into custody as investigations into the fatal incident continue.
