Social commentator and businessman Isaac Fayose has challenged FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over his claim that President Bola Tinubu will win Abuja in the 2027 presidential election.
Fayose made the remarks on Tuesday while appearing on News Central TV, where he declared his support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Abuja is NDC, Abuja is Peter Obi,” Fayose said.
He also argued that Nigerians should not simply rely on assumptions about the popularity of political candidates, urging people to speak directly with voters about their preferred choices.
“People are ready to vote. All we are scared of now is what angle are they going to suppress us from this time? This is the only area we are trying to fine-tune.”
Fayose added that the NDC had put strategies in place to prevent alleged attempts to manipulate the election.
His comments came shortly after Wike said Tinubu would secure a decisive victory in the FCT in 2027. Wike has repeatedly said he is mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election.

Speaking about the cleric’s wealth, Omolehin said Rev. Fr. Edeh took an oath of poverty as a Catholic priest.
According to him, the vow means that the properties and assets belonging to the priest are not personally his but are held for the Roman Catholic Church.
“The richest man of God in Nigeria is a Roman Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Edeh. His net worth is about $500 million. He took the oath of poverty, meaning that everything he owns does not belong to him but to the Roman Catholic Church,” Rev. Isaac Omolehin said.
His claim has since attracted reactions from social media users, with some questioning how the priest allegedly accumulated such wealth.
