The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has gone on a two-week vacation outside Nigeria.
The party said he is taking the break after a demanding first year as chairman.
According to a statement from the party, the vacation will give Yilwatda time to rest, recharge and think about the work ahead before the 2027 elections.
Over the past year, he has been busy with party activities including meetings, travels and strategy sessions to strengthen the ruling party.
Since taking office, Yilwatda has worked with the party’s leadership, governors, members of the National Assembly and other officials to prepare for the 2027 elections.
The party said he has successfully held the APC National Convention, strengthened the party’s structures and conducted primary elections at different levels.
The party stressed that Yilwatda’s vacation should not be seen as him stepping away from his job but as a chance to take a break from daily activities and think clearly about the challenges ahead.
The 2027 elections are important for the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda.
Yilwatda will also use the time to work on plans for an upcoming National Working Committee retreat.
The retreat will allow party leaders to review progress, identify problems and plan strategies for the coming months.
The APC said the chairman’s absence will not affect how the party runs.
The National Working Committee will continue working according to the party’s constitution and procedures.
Yilwatda is expected to return after two weeks and resume his work.
