“Atlantic Records Wasn’t Promoting My Music Enough”- Singer Fave Explains Why She Left Label

- Nigerian singer Fave has left Atlantic Records.
- Inadequate promotion of her music was a key reason for her departure.
- She emphasized the importance of financial investment in music promotion.
Nigerian singer Fave has opened up about her decision to leave Atlantic Records, explaining that inadequate promotion of her music was one of the reasons behind her departure.
The singer reflected on the importance of financial investment in music promotion while discussing the level of backing some artistes receive from their record labels.
According to Fave, she was surprised when she heard that music executive Don Jazzy had reportedly spent $5 million promoting Rema’s hit song, Calm Down.
She said the amount appeared huge to her, although conversations with people in the music industry made her realise that such an investment could be considered relatively small when compared with the cost of promoting music on a global scale.
Fave said her experience with Atlantic Records contributed to her decision to leave the label, as she felt her music was not receiving enough promotional support.
“I left Atlantic Records because they weren’t promoting my music enough. When I heard Don Jazzy spent $5M promoting Rema’s ‘Calm Down,’ I was going crazy. That’s a lot of money! But when I spoke to people in the industry, they said it wasn’t a lot.” she said
