‘Born By M!$tak3’- Lere Olayinka Mocks Rufai Oseni After Arise TV Cut Short Their Live Interview

  • Lere Olayinka has taken a fresh swipe at Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni after their tense live television encounter led to the programme ending his interview.
  • Olayinka mocked Rufai’s questioning style and said the journalist appeared unusually restrained during a later interview with Abia State Governor Alex Otti.

Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has taken another swipe at Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni following their tense live television encounter.

The development came after Arise TV abruptly ended Olayinka’s interview on The Morning Show on Friday, September 4, 2026, after he refused to answer questions from Rufai.

During the programme, Rufai had questioned Olayinka on political issues, including the inclusion of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Betta Edu in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 campaign council despite corruption allegations against her. Olayinka declined to engage Rufai and said he preferred a discussion with “reasonable human beings.”

The interview was subsequently brought to an end after another anchor, Ayo Mairo-Ese, told Olayinka that the programme had three anchors and that he was expected to engage with all of them.

Following the incident, Olayinka returned to social media to mock Rufai while reacting to the journalist’s subsequent encounter with Abia State Governor Alex Otti.

He referred to Rufai as the “BORN by MISTAKE” and claimed that the journalist travelled to Abia State “on the BILL of Governor Alex Otti.”

Olayinka went on to compare Rufai’s conduct during the Otti interview with the journalist’s usual style, alleging that he did not use phrases such as “YOU HAVE TO ANSWER MY QUESTION” and “I PUT IT TO YOU.”

He wrote, “The BORN by MISTAKE went to Abia State on the BILL of Governor Alex Otti. Governor Alex Otti clearly told him there were questions he won’t answer and the BORN by MISTAKE didn’t do his usual shouting – YOU HAVE TO ANSWER MY QUESTION. He didn’t also say I PUT IT TO YOU and no EMPIRICAL FACTS.”

Olayinka also highlighted Rufai’s tone during the interview, claiming that the anchor appeared unusually restrained while questioning the governor.

“Look at the tone of the interview. Look at the way he was so sober while asking questions. The Governor told him to LISTEN, and BORN by MISTAKE just Melembe. Na wetin money do am be that 😂😂😂😂”

The post has since generated reactions online, with some users backing Olayinka while others criticised his comments and defended Rufai.
