Seven males have been arrested after four people were stabbed on Bromley High Street in south-east London, leaving one person in a critical condition. Police were called to the busy town centre at about 2.15pm on Thursday, 10 September, as emergency crews, including London’s Air Ambulance, responded to the incident.
The Metropolitan Police said officers attended reports of an altercation and found four males suffering from stab wounds.
Three were taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, while a fourth remained in a critical condition following the attack.
Seven males were arrested in connection with the incident. Police had not announced charges at the time of the initial update, meaning the arrests should not be treated as evidence of guilt.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Emergency response shuts roads and disrupts buses
The stabbing triggered a major emergency operation in Bromley town centre.
London Ambulance Service sent ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast-response vehicle, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic. London’s Air Ambulance was also sent to the scene.
Part of Bromley High Street was closed while police carried out enquiries, causing traffic disruption in the area.
Parts of Elmfield Road and Ethelbert Road were also shut, while Church House Gardens was cordoned off.
Around 15 bus routes were diverted, including the 61, 119 and 208, according to reports.
Forensic officers and a crime-scene photographer were later seen examining the area around a KFC restaurant on Bromley High Street.
The fast-food company confirmed that a serious incident had occurred at the branch and said it was cooperating with police.
A KFC spokesperson said the company’s priority was supporting its employees and customers while the investigation continued.
Police say no wider threat to public
The Metropolitan Police sought to reassure people in the area following the arrests.
A force spokesperson said: “Police inquiries continue and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.”
Bromley and Biggin Hill MP Peter Fortune also acknowledged concerns among residents following the incident.
He said police had made a number of arrests and that he would remain in contact with officers as their investigation continued.
Police have not publicly confirmed what caused the altercation or detailed the alleged role of each person arrested.
Reports suggesting particular weapons or motives should therefore be treated cautiously unless confirmed by investigators.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist officers has been asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 4008/10SEP.

The incident adds to continuing concerns about knife-related violence in Britain.
