City boy movement inaugurates Kano structure, targets 10m votes for Tinubu

The City Boy Movement has inaugurated its Kano State structure as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement also said it was targeting 10 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
The Director-General of the movement, Mr Oluwatosin Shoga, stated this on Monday in Kano during a town hall meeting and retreat organised for members and youth leaders of the movement in the state.
Shoga said the retreat was aimed at strengthening the movement’s grassroots structures and equipping members with strategies to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The engagement was designed to strengthen the movement’s grassroots structures and equip members with strategies to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections,” he said.
He said the retreat was also aimed at reviewing the movement’s activities, improving coordination among its structures and ensuring effective mobilisation at the grassroots level.
According to him, President Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to the development of the country through various policies and programmes introduced by his administration.
He urged members of the movement to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts, adding that they were expected to register more than 500,000 members by the end of September.
The director-general called on state and local government structures of the movement to work collectively towards expanding its membership base and mobilising eligible voters across communities.
He said the strength of the movement depended on the commitment of its members and effective coordination of its structures at all levels.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr Mariya Bunkure, described the engagement as timely, stressing the importance of youth participation in political activities.
Bunkure congratulated the newly inaugurated leaders and members of the movement, urging them to remain committed to their responsibilities and contribute positively to the political development of their communities.
She encouraged the members to embrace teamwork, dedication and responsible leadership in their various positions.
Earlier, the Kano State Director of the City Boy Movement, Nasir Ja’oji, said the two-day the retreat focused on state leadership, grassroots mobilisation and strategy sessions.
Ja’oji said the programme provided an opportunity for leaders, zonal coordinators, local government officials and members to review their structures, identify challenges and develop practical strategies for effective grassroots mobilisation.
He urged members to demonstrate discipline, unity and commitment, stressing that leadership was not merely about occupying positions but about responsibility, service and coordination.
The state director expressed appreciation to the national executives of the movement, participants and other stakeholders for their support towards the success of the two-day engagement.(NAN)
