The late Emir of Gumel, Ahmad Muhammad Sani, was buried on Friday amidst tears and sorrow. Vice President Kashim Shettima led the federal government delegation at the funeral.
The remains of the late Emir arrived at Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano from Egypt. He was later buried at the Emir’s palace after the funeral prayer, which was held around 7 pm.
The federal government delegation, led by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, attended the funeral prayer. Other members of the delegation included the Chairman of the Northwest Development Commission, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and several stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi; his deputy, Engr. Aminu Usman; former Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar; Alhaji Sule Lamido; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly; and other top government officials were also in attendance.
Traditional rulers from within and outside the state, including the Emirs of Hadejia, Kazaure, Dutse, and Kano, among many other dignitaries, also attended the burial.
Furthermore, thousands of sons of the Gumel emirate, friends, brothers, and sympathisers were among those who took part in the funeral prayer.
The death of the late Emir Ahmad Sani, who reigned for 46 years, has plunged the emirate and Jigawa State into deep mourning.
The late Emir has been described as a beacon of integrity, humility, and exemplary leadership. His remarkable achievements will remain indelible in the annals of the history of the emirate and Jigawa State.
