Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said investigations by relevant government agencies cleared him of wrongdoing over allegations linked to a purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
Gbajabiamila spoke on Saturday at the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment programme in Lagos, where he distributed cash, vehicles and other items to residents of Surulere.
Reflecting on the allegations, Gbajabiamila said the experience had tested him but thanked those who supported him during the period of scrutiny.
“The past few months have tested me in ways I never expected. Stories were written, strange accusations were made, lies were told, and my integrity was questioned,” he said.
According to him, investigations by the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission cleared him of any wrongdoing.
“At the end of all the investigations, the Nigerian Police, the DSS, the ICPC cleared me of any wrongdoing, and the investigative reports are in the public domain,” he said.
The allegations followed investigations into the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
Gbajabiamila appeared before the ICPC in July 2026 as part of its investigation.
The commission later said it found no evidence linking him or his office to the purported organisation or the appointment of its alleged director-general.
He also thanked President Tinubu for allowing the investigations to take their course.
“I must thank my principal, President Bola Tinubu. Many people wanted him to rush to judgment and give a verdict before the investigation. He refused and insisted on due process,” he said.
Gbajabiamila said the allegations would not distract him from his responsibilities.
“No amount of money, no amount of blackmail or lies, whether sponsored from within or outside, will detract me from my work and the work Mr. President has given me to do,” he said.
He also warned people using his name to defraud members of the public, saying the law would catch up with them.
