“He’s In The Hospital” – Sowore Claims Tinubu Is Hospitalised, Says Party Will Seek His Impeachment
- AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is currently in hospital and said his party plans to take legal action seeking to compel the National Assembly to commence an impeachment process.
- The claim comes as the Presidency says Tinubu is “hale and hearty” and currently on a working vacation abroad, with plans to return to Nigeria this week.
African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is currently in hospital and said his party has taken a position to pursue legal action aimed at triggering an impeachment process.
Sowore made the claim while discussing the President’s continued absence from Nigeria.
He said:
“…… I know where he is, he’s in the hospital, I guess when he is discharged, he will return. We’ve taken a position in our party to sue him for the National Assembly to commence his impeachment”
Sowore did not provide details of the hospital where he claimed Tinubu was receiving treatment.
His allegation comes shortly after the Presidency responded to questions over the President’s prolonged stay abroad, saying Tinubu is “hale and hearty” and has been on a working vacation.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said Tinubu has continued to discharge his duties while abroad and does not need to be physically present in Abuja to work. He added that the President is expected to return to Nigeria this week.
The Presidency’s account directly differs from Sowore’s claim that the President is currently hospitalised.
Meanwhile, recent reports indicate that calls for impeachment proceedings against Tinubu have also emerged from some opposition and civil society groups.
