A Nigerian man has urged citizens not to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election while making a case for Peter Obi to become Nigeria’s president.
In a statement circulating online, the man linked his appeal to Tinubu’s absence from the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
“Can You Now See Why Tinubu Is Not At UNGA 2026? Nigerians, I’m On My Knees Begging You Not To Vote For Tinubu In 2027. Please, I’m Begging You In Anything You Believe In. It’s For Your Good And The Betterment Of The Future Of Your Children. Here’s Why Peter Obi Should Be President Of Nigeria,” he said.
Tinubu did not attend the 81st UNGA, with Vice President Kashim Shettima leading Nigeria’s delegation and delivering the country’s national statement. The Federal Government said the President was on annual leave and that Shettima had been given the full mandate to represent Nigeria at the gathering.
The Presidency also rejected suggestions that Tinubu’s absence was linked to any restriction on his travel to the United States, saying his absence would not diminish Nigeria’s role at the international gathering.
