Irresponsible to claim Tinubu will be denied access to US, Trump – Bashir Ahmad

Former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has said it is irresponsible to claim that President Bola Tinubu will be denied access to the United States, US, and the American President, Donald Trump will refuse a meeting with him.

Ahmad claimed that Tinubu cannot be embarrassed at the United Nations General Assembly holding from September 8 to 28, 2026.

He was reacting to claims by a US lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague York, that Tinubu can travel to America and wouldn’t be prosecuted for drug trafficking.

Posting on X, Ahmad wrote: “This is just a political attack dressed up as certainty.

“President Bola Tinubu is the democratically elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and allegations, however loudly repeated are not convictions.

“Serious accusations should be tested against credible evidence and due process, not presented as facts simply because they fit a particular political narrative.

“It is equally irresponsible to declare, in advance, that President Donald Trump will refuse to meet President Tinubu or that the Nigerian President will be embarrassed at the United Nations.”
