A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian 1 euro ($1.15) in compensation after she was the victim of an armed robbery in the French capital in 2016.
The decision was announced on Tuesday, September 15.
The amount may look small, but it was exactly what Kardashian had requested from the court.
Last year, eight people were found guilty for their roles in the robbery, which Kardashian previously described as “the most terrifying experience of my life.”
Following Tuesday’s decision, Kardashian and her stylist Simone Harouche released a joint statement thanking the French justice system.
“The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” the statement to The Associated Press from the two Americans read.
“We are thankful to the Court and everyone who supported us throughout this process, and we hope to now move forward and continue to heal.”
Kardashian was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès when the robbery happened on October 2, 2016, during Paris Fashion Week.
A former receptionist at the hotel, who said he was also traumatised by the robbery, was awarded 109,516 euros ($126,472).
He had asked for 550,000 euros ($634,868) in damages and interest.
His lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, welcomed the court’s decision as a victory.
The hotel was also awarded 50,000 euros ($57,741).
Harouche, who was present during the robbery, received 1 euro, which was also the amount she requested.
After the suspects were convicted last year, Kardashian thanked French authorities for their work on the case.
“The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,” the celebrity said.
“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system.”
