Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Nollywood stars Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, alongside Fuji musicians Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, have been named to the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) campaign council ahead of the 2027 elections.
Their appointments feature in the council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, one of the specialised structures listed in the campaign framework released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday. The council is scheduled for inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
The directorate is headed by Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, while Kosoko takes the position of Co-Director and Badmus serves as Deputy Director.
Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, is listed as Secretary, with Dare Olateju serving as Assistant Secretary.
The lineup also draws heavily from the Yoruba film industry. Veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly called Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri and Tayo Sobola are among those included.
Fuji music has a sizeable presence in the structure. Pasuma, Obesere and Ayuba are joined by Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, known as Malaika; Akorede Babatunde Okunola, popularly called Osupa; and singer Small Doctor.
The composition gives the creative sector a defined place within the party’s campaign machinery rather than treating entertainment figures simply as celebrity supporters. Their positions place them inside a formal directorate with designated leadership and administrative roles.
The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate forms part of a much larger campaign structure covering several political and organisational functions across Lagos. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is listed as Chairman of the main campaign council, while Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat is Deputy Chairman.
Former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode are listed as Co-Chairmen of the advisory structure, while former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is Director-General of the campaign council.
The council also contains directorates responsible for areas including legal and compliance matters, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations. Grassroots coordinators are also designated across the state’s local government areas and development councils.
The entertainment appointments come shortly after the formal commencement of campaign activities for the 2027 general elections. Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier fixed September 9 as the start date for electioneering.
Members of the Lagos APC campaign council are expected to be formally inaugurated at the party secretariat on Friday, marking the commencement of the council’s organised campaign activities ahead of the polls.
