Veteran filmmaker and Alaraka movie producer, Tolu Fagbure, has recalled Lateef Adedimeji’s remarkable discipline and punctuality during a 2017 production at the University of Ibadan.
Fagbure said Adedimeji consistently arrived on set by 8:00 a.m., describing one particular incident involving the actor’s tinted Lexus R350 as a memorable example of his professionalism.
According to him, the actor arrived at exactly 8:00 a.m. on the day they were scheduled to shoot at the Garden Theatre, now known as the Wole Soyinka Theatre, University of Ibadan.
He said Adedimeji remained inside his car after arriving, despite having already been noticed.
> “Lateef Adedimeji got to my set by 8:00 a.m. every time in 2017. On a particular day, he arrived at exactly 8:00 a.m. in his green Lexus R350. The car was tinted, so you couldn’t see him inside.
Fagbure explained that he was already preparing for the day around the actor’s vehicle when Adedimeji’s assistant questioned why he needed to come down after the producer had seen his car.
The filmmaker said Adedimeji’s response demonstrated his understanding of professional discipline.
> “Lateef replied, ‘No, let me get down for him to acknowledge my presence.’”
Fagbure said the incident reinforced his belief that punctuality on a film set goes beyond merely arriving at the location.
> “I had already seen his car, but for me, the discipline is that you should be in your car and not at my location. It is indiscipline, and you are aiding and abetting indiscipline by expecting people or makeup artists to come and meet you in your car.”
He said Adedimeji’s conduct stood out because the actor understood that being physically present and ready for work was part of the discipline required on a professional film set.
