The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned its state chairmen and other party officials against demanding registration fees from support groups, declaring that registration of such groups is free.
The warning was contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director Esq., who said the leadership of the NDC had received reports that some state chairmen were demanding money from support groups seeking registration with the party.
Director stated that the registration of support groups was exclusively handled by the Directorate of Support Groups at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja.
He said: “The registration of support groups is free. It does not attract any fee whatsoever.”
According to him, no state chapter, officer or official of the party has the authority to register support groups or collect money for the purpose under any guise.
He consequently directed all state chapters of the party to comply strictly with the directive, warning that any violation would attract appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The NDC publicity secretary further urged all support groups seeking registration to direct their inquiries and registration processes to the Directorate of Support Groups at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
He said the party valued the support and partnership of various support groups, including the Obidient and Kwankwasiya Movements, assuring that the NDC would continue to provide an enabling environment for the groups to contribute to the party’s activities and objectives.
Director urged party officials to adhere to the directive and refrain from any action capable of exploiting support groups or undermining the party’s relationship with them.
