People in the Netherlands can now call a free hotline for help with difficult tax and benefits problems.
The service supports people who cannot resolve their issues with the Dutch Tax Authority or Benefits Agency on their own.
Callers can contact Geldfit on 0800-8115.
The line operates from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Geldfit will listen to the caller’s situation and decide what type of support they need. The organisation can then provide guidance or connect the person with another service.
People can call anonymously. The service is free.
The hotline can help with problems involving tax bills, payment arrangements and benefits.
It may also support people facing urgent situations, including possible seizure of their bank account or eviction from their home.
The initiative follows concerns that some people struggle to access proper legal and tax support.
The Netherlands created the position of advocate for taxpayers and benefit recipients after the childcare benefits scandal.
The advocate’s office has reportedly received hundreds of cases since 2025.
People with complex or urgent problems can also contact the Dutch Tax Information Line on 0800-0543.
An employee may refer the case to the Tax Authority’s Stella team.
The Stella team assists people whose tax or benefits problems involve several connected issues. A team member aims to contact the person within 24 hours and provide one fixed contact person.
People calling the Tax Information Line should keep their citizen service number, known as a BSN, nearby.
