Newly revealed legal documents have provided details regarding a private conflict between the family of late actor Chadwick Boseman and his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, following his death in August 2020.
The correspondence, obtained by media outlets, shows that weeks after the actor passed away, lawyers representing Boseman’s parents and brothers requested the preservation of his electronic devices, medical records, and financial accounts.
The family raised questions concerning his final days and sought to examine his toxicology reports and medical treatment. They also stated their belief that the actor had recorded instructions regarding the distribution of movie residuals to his parents and siblings.
In response, Ledward’s legal team rejected allegations of improper asset handling, describing the family’s requests as confrontational and noting that she had attempted to involve them in projects honoring his legacy.
The documents do not establish any official wrongdoing or alter the cause of death for the Black Panther star, who died at age 43 following a private four-year battle with colon cancer.
The legal disagreement remains ongoing, with Boseman’s brothers filing court documents to remove Ledward as estate administrator, a petition she continues to oppose.
