Former Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Board, Ayo Fayose, has reacted to the ongoing disagreement between Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum.
The dispute followed comments by APC governors, led by their chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, distancing themselves from Wike’s Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State.
In a viral video, Uzodimma said APC governors would not support any alliance or political arrangement that could undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid or weaken the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Wike later responded during an interview on Arise Television, criticising the governors and describing them as politically “smart” but “lazy”.

The FCT minister also said he would not help the governors win elections in their respective states, stressing that the coalition currently operates only in Rivers State.
Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday night, Fayose said Nigerians were familiar with Wike’s political identity, while the APC Governors’ Forum remained an institution with its own position.
“Nigerians know who Wike is and the institution, the Governors’ Forum, and they are both saying different things in different ways,” Fayose said.
The former governor, however, said the disagreement between him and the APC governors should not be interpreted as a threat to Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
According to Fayose, the controversy “has nothing to do with the winning of the president”.
He also pointed to personal interests and ego as factors that can influence political disagreements, noting that politicians, including himself, are not immune to such considerations.
“But don’t forget, everybody has his own ego. Every one of us, including myself,” he added.
