The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Bauchi State branch, has promised to promote professionalism, engineering excellence and mentorship of young engineers as part of its efforts to advance the profession.
Its newly elected chairman, Engr. Shehu Wakili, made the commitment during a chat with journalists yesterday after the announcement of the results of the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the election of new members of the branch’s Executive Council.
Wakili described his election as a call to service, assuring members that his administration would provide inclusive, transparent and purposeful leadership while upholding the ethics of the engineering profession.
He said the new leadership would focus on professional development, engineering excellence, advocacy and community impact in Bauchi State.
“This mandate is a call to service and I am deeply honoured. I pledge to provide inclusive, transparent and purposeful leadership that upholds the ethics of our profession and advances the objectives of NSE.
“Together, we will focus on professional development, engineering excellence, advocacy and community impact in Bauchi State. I cannot do this alone. I count on your cooperation, ideas and commitment as we build a stronger branch,” he said.
The NSE chairman said the administration would also work to increase the society’s membership through various activities, while prioritising mentoring young engineers.
“We will strive to make society move forward. We have so many agendas to achieve. We want to increase our membership through various activities, and we want to carry our young ones along and mentor them as and when due.
“I want to call on all of us who were elected to work hard for the progress of the society in general,” Wakili added.
Announcing the results, he said Engr. Aliyu Ibrahim Adamu emerged as vice chairman, while Engr. Adamu Umar Chinade was elected general secretary.
Engr. Musa Mohammed was elected deputy general secretary, while Engr. Lumi Jonathan emerged as the technical secretary. Also, Engr. Salim Ibrahim Yelwa was elected deputy technical secretary.
Others elected were Engr. Suleman Muhammad, Treasurer; and Engr. Aliyu Yakubu, Financial Secretary.
Engr. Jawahir Mohammed and Engr. Hadi Ibrahim retained their positions as Ex-Officio members, alongside the immediate past chairman of the society, Engr. Abdulkarim Hassan.
Speaking on behalf of the newly elected Executive Council, Wakili expressed appreciation to God and to the members of the society for entrusting them with the responsibility of serving.
He pledged that the new executive would work diligently and discharge its responsibilities to the best of its abilities in the interest of the NSE and the engineering profession in Bauchi State.
