The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has fixed September 30 for the commencement of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream One orientation course, setting a three-week camp schedule for prospective corps members across Nigeria.
The exercise will begin on Wednesday, September 30, and run until Tuesday, October 20, 2026, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the NYSC Director, Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu.
The announcement provides prospective corps members with the dates for reporting to camp, completing registration, and participating in the compulsory swearing-in ceremony.
Registration at the orientation camps will take place from Wednesday, September 30, to Friday, October 2. The swearing-in ceremony for the new batch is scheduled for Friday, October 2.
The three-week orientation programme will hold simultaneously in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The NYSC orientation course is the first major phase of the service year for mobilised graduates. It brings newly deployed corps members together for physical training, lectures, drills, social activities, and other programmes designed to prepare them for the subsequent stages of national service.
While the reporting date has been fixed, prospective corps members are expected to complete their preparations ahead of movement to their assigned camps.
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier Olakunle Nafiu, congratulated the prospective corps members and course officials and wished them safe journeys to their respective orientation camps.
He also issued a safety advisory ahead of the nationwide movement.
Nafiu advised prospective corps members against travelling at night and told them to use designated motor parks when embarking on their journeys to the camps.
The warning comes as thousands of young Nigerians prepare to travel from different parts of the country to unfamiliar locations for the orientation exercise.
Using recognised motor parks offers a more structured travel arrangement and gives travellers a safer alternative to roadside boarding points, where vehicles may operate without proper oversight.
The September 30 commencement date also means prospective corps members have a defined window within which to organise their travel, documents, and other camp requirements before reporting.
Registration will run for the first three days of the programme, ending on October 2. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on the same day that registration closes.
The ceremony marks the formal commencement of the service year for the newly admitted batch and precedes the remainder of the orientation activities.
The orientation course will then continue until October 20 before corps members proceed to the next phase of the NYSC programme, which involves deployment to their places of primary assignment (PPA).
The announcement places the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream One programme on a clear timetable and allows prospective participants to plan their movement well ahead of the reporting date.
The NYSC has also placed travel safety at the centre of its preparations, particularly as corps members will be moving in large numbers across state boundaries.
With September 30 now confirmed as the opening date, the immediate task for prospective corps members is to prepare for camp, arrange safe transportation and ensure they report within the prescribed period.
