The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has declared itself fully prepared for the 2027 general elections, with Governor Dapo Abiodun expressing confidence that the party will retain power in the state.
Abiodun made the declaration on Thursday as thousands of APC supporters and members of Caucus 7202 converged on the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, for a mega rally in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The rally attracted supporters from the 20 local government areas of Ogun State and served as a major mobilisation event for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Addressing the gathering, Abiodun said the turnout demonstrated the strength, unity and grassroots reach of the APC across the state.
He maintained that the achievements recorded by his administration over the past seven years had created a strong platform for the party to seek the continued support of Ogun residents.
The governor also commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the APC’s activities, describing the emergence of Adeola as the party’s governorship candidate as a significant development in the political history of the state.
Abiodun said the maturity and unity displayed by APC members had further strengthened the party ahead of the 2027 contest.
He expressed confidence in Adeola’s capacity to govern the state, citing his experience, exposure and years of public service.
The governor urged party members and support groups to intensify their grassroots mobilisation and take the APC’s message and achievements to every ward and community across Ogun.
Abiodun also reiterated Ogun State’s commitment to delivering two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at the rally, Adeola described Abiodun as a “silent achiever”, saying the governor’s seven years in office had brought monumental development to the state and laid a solid foundation for future administrations.
He pledged to build on the achievements of the present administration and sustain Ogun’s development trajectory if elected governor in 2027.
The APC governorship candidate also dismissed speculation about any political alliance or working arrangement between him and opposition parties ahead of the election.
Adeola urged APC members to remain vigilant and reject what he described as overtures from opposition elements seeking to penetrate the party’s ranks.
He said the APC was adequately prepared for the election, with strong structures, organisation and support across the state to retain power.
Adeola also commended various support groups, particularly Caucus 7202, for their commitment to his ambition and those of other APC candidates.
He noted that more than 90 per cent of Caucus 7202 members were not affiliated with any political party, describing their decision to support the APC as an indication of their confidence in the party and its candidates.
He charged the group to expand its mobilisation efforts and reach more voters across Ogun State.
The Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, also urged party members to take the APC manifesto to the grassroots and educate voters on the party’s programmes, policies and achievements.
Sanusi stressed that voter education, sustained community engagement and disciplined mobilisation would be critical to the party’s success in 2027.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of Caucus 7202, Moctar Koiki, disclosed that the organisation had about 180,000 members spread across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State.
Koiki described Caucus 7202 as an independent political support group established to mobilise support for the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, more than 90 per cent of the group’s members are non-partisan.
He said the organisation would deploy its structures across the state to mobilise support for President Tinubu, Governor Abiodun’s senatorial ambition and Adeola’s governorship bid.
Koiki assured the APC leadership that Caucus 7202 would continue its grassroots mobilisation drive across Ogun State with the aim of delivering victory for the party and its candidates in 2027.
