Nigerian content creator and comedian, Prophet Rolex, has broken his silence after being called out over his previous promotion of the visa services offered by TMT Travels and Tours, a company owned by Ifeanyi Onukwubiri.
Onukwubiri, the Chief Executive Officer of TMT Travels and Tours, is currently facing allegations of defrauding individuals who allegedly paid for visa processing and related travel services.
The controversy has drawn attention to Prophet Rolex because of his previous role as an ambassador for the travel company, with some individuals questioning the content creator’s association with the firm.
Reacting to the backlash, Prophet Rolex appealed to people who claim to have been affected by the alleged visa scam, expressing regret over his previous association with the company.
The comedian maintained that he was unaware that the situation would eventually develop into a controversy involving allegations of fraud.
He appealed to those affected to forgive him, stressing that he did not knowingly participate in any wrongdoing.
“Please, to all the victims of the TMT visa scam, forgive me. I had no idea the whole issue would turn out this way,” Prophet Rolex said.
According to him, the matter is now in the hands of security operatives, and he expressed optimism that those affected would eventually recover their money.
“However, since the matter is currently with security operatives, I’m sure you will get your money back,” he added.
Prophet Rolex also clarified the nature and duration of his relationship with TMT Travels and Tours.
According to the content creator, his association with the company was based on an ambassadorial agreement and was not connected to the day-to-day running or management of the travel business.
He disclosed that his ambassadorial contract with the company lasted from 2022 to 2024.
“My ambassadorial contract with him was from 2022 to 2024,” he stated.
The clarification appears aimed at separating his promotional role from the operations of TMT Travels and Tours, particularly amid the allegations currently surrounding the company.
Prophet Rolex further explained that he had no involvement in the internal operations of TMT Travels and Tours.
He maintained that his role was limited to promoting the company under the terms of his ambassadorial agreement.
The content creator also stated that he distanced himself from the firm after becoming aware of the allegations against it.
His comments come amid growing scrutiny of celebrities and social media personalities who promote businesses, products and services to their followers.
Influencers and content creators frequently serve as ambassadors for companies, helping businesses reach wider audiences through social media platforms.
