“See their campaign buses and the ambulance they gave you” — Isaac Fayose blames Nigerians for Nigeria’s problems
Isaac Fayose has blamed Nigerians for contributing to the country’s problems, arguing that citizens have remained silent while criticising the government for failing to provide adequate infrastructure and public services.
Fayose made the remarks in a viral video while discussing the state of governance, business, infrastructure, electricity, flooding and political campaigns in Nigeria.
‘Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria’
In the video, Fayose repeatedly argued that Nigerians themselves are part of the country’s problems, accusing many citizens of becoming wicked towards one another because of the way they are treated by the government.
He said: “Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria. Nigeria, I repeat, Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria. They are the problem.
To do business in Nigeria today, you will do like this. Because 90% of the people are now wicked. Because their government is wicked to them, they take it out on one another.
I don’t know why. And they keep quiet when government is doing this to them. They keep quiet.”
Fayose compares campaign buses with government ambulance
Fayose also criticised what he described as government spending on branded campaign buses while citizens struggle with inadequate emergency medical services.
He urged Nigerians to compare the appearance of campaign buses with the ambulance provided by the government.
He said: “They put their hands in their mouth. They bury their self in shame. Look at the ambulance government is giving you.
See your own ambulance and see the buses they have branded for their own election. Look at the buses. Aren’t they beautiful? Now look at your ambulance.
Isn’t that, what do you make of that, you yourself, even thinking. What do you make of it? They’ve destroyed your life. They’ve destroyed your sense of reasoning.”
He raises concerns over roads and electricity
Fayose further criticised the state of infrastructure, particularly roads and electricity, claiming that government officials prioritise areas connected to them while ordinary Nigerians continue to face poor infrastructure.
He said: “You don’t have any road. But the road to their own government house is tarred. The road to their palace is tarred.
You don’t have lights. They give themselves power grid. And you are still there.”
He questioned why Nigerians continue to hold on to the belief that conditions would eventually improve without demanding greater accountability from those in government.
Fayose criticises pastors preaching fasting and prayer
The commentator also turned his attention to some pastors, criticising religious leaders who, according to him, tell Nigerians to fast and pray while living in luxury.
He said: “Still saying it go better. It no go better. All those pastors telling you to fast and pray.
They use Rolls Royce. They are private jets. They are exploiting you.
They are taking from you, giving you false hope.”
Fayose argued that Nigerians should demand explanations from those in authority instead of simply accepting the situation.
He speaks on flooding and emergency response
Fayose also highlighted flooding and what he described as the difficulty Nigerians face in accessing emergency medical services.
He said: “The only hope you have is for you to get up from this your comfortable dirty situation and ask them, why are you doing this to me? Look at flood everywhere. Flood, flood, flood everywhere.
Everywhere is flooded. Tell me one ambulance you can call. Tell me one ambulance number.”
He questions political campaign spending
Fayose concluded by returning to the issue of political campaigns, questioning why resources could be used to brand and deploy new campaign buses while emergency services remain inadequate.
He said: “But they can brand buses, brand buses, brand new buses to campaign to get your vote. And you are still there singing and dancing. And elite them.
You are the weakest link. You are wicked. You are part of the problem.”
