The Dutch public prosecution service has said it will not investigate an incident involving a student who allegedly made a Hitler salute during a lecture at TU Eindhoven after the student voluntarily left the Netherlands.
According to the university, the incident happened during a first-year calculus class in a packed lecture hall.
The student allegedly made racist remarks during the class and also performed a Nazi salute.
Other students reportedly intervened, leading to a fight.
The university’s executive board described the behaviour as “unacceptable” and said it was investigating the incident.
The student was later arrested.
According to the public prosecution service, officials later held discussions with the student and his father.
Following those talks, the student chose to voluntarily leave the Netherlands.
The public prosecution service said it would therefore not investigate the incident further.
Authorities did not disclose the student’s country of origin.
