President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has used Bishop David Oyedepo’s 72nd birthday to recognise more than four decades of ministry and his work in education, healthcare and humanitarian service.
Oyedepo, founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, turned 72 today.
Tinubu said Oyedepo had built an influence that extends from Christian ministry into education, publishing, leadership development and social development.
Four decades in ministry
In a birthday message issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu praised Oyedepo’s long service in Christian ministry.
The President said the bishop had become a prominent Nigerian voice on faith, leadership, integrity, education and human development.
Tinubu also cited Oyedepo’s teachings on hope, purpose and personal responsibility, as well as his emphasis on discipline, diligence and excellence.
“Bishop David Oyedepo has devoted decades to preaching faith, promoting integrity and encouraging excellence, while investing substantially in education and the development of human capacity,” Tinubu said.
The President said Oyedepo’s books and teachings had reached audiences across Nigeria and Africa.
Education takes prominent place
Tinubu gave particular recognition to Oyedepo’s contribution to education through Covenant University and Landmark University.
He said the institutions had provided platforms for academic excellence, leadership development, entrepreneurship and innovation.

He said the bishop’s commitment to building lives and institutions had given his ministry a national and international footprint.
Living Faith Church Worldwide has an international presence across Africa and other parts of the world, Tinubu said.
Social services cited
Tinubu also pointed to schools, healthcare facilities and humanitarian interventions associated with Oyedepo’s ministry.
He specifically praised social-development initiatives and the David Oyedepo Foundation’s support for education and people in need.
The President said Oyedepo had consistently promoted values centred on integrity, discipline, responsibility and excellence.
He also recognised the bishop’s advocacy for values that, in his view, strengthen families, institutions and nations.
