The traditional rulers of Bakura, Anka, and Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State have promised to mobilise their local communities to share information with military forces as the Nigerian Army deployed three new infantry battalions in their domains on Tuesday.
The Army activated the 12 Infantry Battalion in Bakura, 28 Infantry Battalion in Anka, and 23 Infantry Battalion in Kaura Namoda.
The Commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General BP Koughna, announced the deployments. The Acting Commander of 1 Brigade, Colonel Joseph Umaru, represented Koughna during the activation events.
The Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Brigade in Gusau announced the deployment on Tuesday on X.
The Emir of Bakura, Alhaji Bello Sani, the Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, and the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Major Dr. Sanusi Mohammed Ahmed (retired), welcomed the new operational units.
