Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA has said that they have neutralised terrorists and intercepted a large cache of ammunition during separate operations in Zamfara.
The army media and information officer luitenant colonel Aliyu Danka in a statement on Wednesday said that In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2, acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of terrorists from the Fakai General Area towards Kwanar Jolof and Tashar Dole in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas,ambushed the terrorists at Kwanar Jolof and killed scores of them.

According to him troops engaged the terrorists, neutralising scores of them, while others fled in disarray.
While exploiting the general area led to the recovery of one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb, one AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle, among other items.
During the search, one of the passengers resisted inspection of his bag and attempted to escape after being compelled to open it. Troops subsequently pursued and neutralised the suspect.
Moreover the subsequent search of the bag soldiers uncovered 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside gari. The vehicle and its driver are currently in military custody for further investigation.
The successful operations form part of the sustained offensive by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the flow of arms and ammunition, and deny terrorists freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
He said troops remain resolute in the fight against terrorism and committed to the restoration of lasting peace across affected communities across the Joint Operations Area.
