Aaron Rodgers is gearing up for what he said is his final season in the NFL, and while he’s looking forward to competing again, the Pittsburgh Steelers star is also focused on the next chapter of his life.
In a new interview, Aaron Rodgers spoke a bit more about his personal life and revealed the one thing he’s looking forward to most once he hangs up his cleats for good.

In a sneak peek of an upcoming interview posted on September 4, Rodgers told reporters he’s been thinking about what comes next after his final year of football.
“I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” he said. “And I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family.”
He added, “That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
Aaron Rodgers Said This Year Will Be His Last In The NFL
In May 2026, Rodgers told the media that his 22nd season in the NFL would be his last. The Super Bowl champion spent one year with the Pittsburgh Steelers and signed another hefty one-year contract with the team after 17 years with the Green Bay Packers and two years with the New York Jets.
“I had a lot of conversations with Mike, Omar, for a while,” he said in the summer. “And you know, had a lot of conversations with my wife about it, after the [NFL] draft came to the conclusion that I wanted to play, I wanted to come back.”
Before his recent announcement, Rodgers said a year earlier that he was “pretty sure” he would retire after the 2025 season. “That’s why we just did a one-year deal. Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything, so this was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had,” he said.
Aaron Rodgers Got Married In Secret
Rodgers’ revelation that he hopes to be a father comes a year after he announced he married his partner, Britani, in a very, very private event.
He first confirmed he was in a romantic relationship while speaking with Pat McAfee, confirming it was a “good feeling.”
While Rodgers’ wife has remained a secret, he has credited her for encouraging him to reconcile with his family, with whom he’d been estranged.
“A big part of it was getting married and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together,” he said. “It’s been a couple-year process now, the conversations with them.”
Rodgers’ Wife Had A Lot To Do With Him Returning For Another Year
And that’s not all. According to another report from The Blast, Rodgers’ partner also encouraged him to return to the Steelers for another year.
“I talked to the wife, and she said, ‘You can do one more year and see if it works out,’” he revealed. “And then it kind of all came together.”
Mike Tomlin Says Rodgers Would’ve Returned Regardless
Days ago, Mike Tomlin, the former head coach of the Steelers, spoke about his retirement and said he believes Rodgers would’ve returned to the team for another year regardless of whether he’d stayed.
“I believe he would have,” Tomlin said. “Just spending 12 months with Aaron, man, this guy has a love affair with football and all components of it—the process, you know, meetings, team development.”
Tomlin went on to say that he knew Rodgers was different by the way he watched him in the Steelers’ training camp.
“Not a lot of guys enjoy training camp settings the way I watched him enjoy it. And so, I just think, man, he’s built for it. He’s healthy. He’s certainly capable, and so I think that he would have strongly considered it regardless of circumstance. That’s just my gut feeling,” he said.
