“What Happened To His ₦18,000?” – VDM Shares Receipts Of Dangote Flour Mills Investor Who Later Received Small Dividends

  • VeryDarkMan has shared documents and dividend receipts belonging to a man identified as Sanni Sakariya Abolaji, who reportedly bought 1,200 Dangote Flour Mills shares at ₦15 each in 2007 for ₦18,000.
  • The documents shared in the video show dividend payments of ₦324 and ₦216 in 2009 and another ₦108 payment in 2012, prompting discussions about the experience of ordinary investors and the current enthusiasm around the Dangote Refinery IPO.

VeryDarkMan has shared the documents and old dividend receipts of a man identified as Sanni Sakariya Abolaji, who reportedly invested ₦18,000 in Dangote Flour Mills during its 2007 initial public offering.

According to the documents presented by VDM, Abolaji bought 1,200 units of the company’s shares at ₦15 per share.

Dangote Flour Mills had opened its IPO in 2007 at ₦15 per share and was subsequently listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in February 2008.

VDM’s video showed documents indicating that the investor received ₦324 and ₦216 in dividend payments in 2009, followed by another payment of ₦108 in 2012.

Some reports said Abolaji later d!ed and his children inherited his investment documents, although details surrounding his estate and the eventual status of the shares were not independently established.

The story has resurfaced amid strong interest in the Dangote Refinery IPO, with VDM using the historical documents to question whether ordinary investors should rely solely on the reputation of the Dangote brand when assessing a public offer.

However, the documents alone do not establish the total return on the investment, since dividend payments are only one component of an equity investment and do not show the eventual market value or any corporate actions affecting the shares.
