The woman whose mother recently received a ₦1 million gift from TikTok influencer Peller has responded to criticism over her lifestyle and her mother’s continued groundnut business.

Some Nigerians had questioned why she was using an iPhone and selling wigs while allowing her mother to continue selling groundnuts.

Responding to the criticism, the woman explained that groundnut selling had been her mother’s source of livelihood for years and was the business through which she raised her six children.

“I’m seeing people asking why I’m using an iPhone and selling wigs while allowing my mother to sell groundnuts. My mother raised me and my siblings through that same groundnut business.”

She also pointed out that she is only 25 years old and is not the eldest among her mother’s six children.

“I’m 25 years old and I have my own life to live. I’m not even the eldest child; my mother has six children, and I’m the fourth.”

The woman further disclosed that she had previously attempted to help her mother establish another business.

“In 2024, I gave my mother ₦100,000 to start a business, but she told me the business wasn’t doing well, so she eventually went back to selling groundnuts.”

Her response comes after her mother’s story attracted widespread attention following Peller’s ₦1 million donation to the family.
