The lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has said Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election rather than the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oshiomhole made the clarification on Tuesday during an interview on TVC, while reacting to the ongoing disagreement between Wike and some APC governors.
The former Edo State governor said Wike’s recent criticism of some APC governors, whom the minister described as “politically lazy”, should not be interpreted as opposition to Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.
According to Oshiomhole, he is not a member of the APC but has repeatedly stated his support for Tinubu.
“Wike is supporting President Tinubu and not the APC. The position of some of the APC governors and that of the minister is that they are both unanimous. They are all committed to supporting the re-election of President Tinubu,” Oshiomhole said.

He said the disagreement between Wike and some APC governors did not necessarily amount to a disagreement over Tinubu’s re-election.
“I am comfortable with the fact that the two sides are working for the same goal, supporting the President,” he added.
Oshiomhole said he had not heard either side suggest that he was opposed to Tinubu’s second-term bid.
“I have not heard any side of the argument suggesting that anyone, including the FCT Minister, is opposed to President Tinubu’s re-election,” he said.
He further stressed that Wike had publicly acknowledged that he was not an APC member while maintaining his support for the President.
“He has said so himself repeatedly that he is not an APC person; he is not a member of the APC, but he supports the President,” Oshiomhole said.
