A woman seen begging on the streets with her two young children has sparked reactions after claims of extensive assistance she previously received from philanthropist Lucky Udu resurfaced online.

According to posts circulating on social media, Udu allegedly paid two years’ rent for an apartment for the woman and furnished the home with items including a bed and television.

He was also said to have bought her a phone and given her ₦300,000 to start a business.

However, a recent BayuzTV video showing the same woman begging on the street with her children has reignited the conversation, with some Nigerians questioning why she allegedly left the apartment and returned to begging.

Old footage showing the assistance has since been shared alongside the recent video, prompting criticism from some users who argued that situations like this make people reluctant to extend help.

There are, however, conflicting claims online, with one user questioning whether the ₦300,000 was actually given to the woman and alleging that some philanthropists may collect larger donations before giving beneficiaries smaller amounts.
