You Lied, Tinubu Didn’t Give N50bn For Ibadan Airport Upgrade —Makinde Counters Wike

Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has denied claims by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that President Bola Tinubu gave him N50 billion to upgrade the Ibadan Airport.

Wike had on Monday claimed that Tinubu provided N50 billion to Makinde to support the upgrade of the Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan into an international facility.

However, speaking in a video during the APM’s Townhall meeting in Katsina on Tuesday, the Oyo State governor described the claim as false.

Makinde said, “My attention was called to an interview granted by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, where he said that the President gave N50 billion to Oyo State or to me to complete the airport in Ibadan to international standard.

“I want to say that that claim is false. The President did not give N50 billion to me or to Oyo State to upgrade the Ibadan Airport. Ibadan Airport project is being undertaken 100 per cent with the money of Oyo State.”

Makinde, who is seeking the presidency on the APM platform, said the party’s delegation was in Katsina as part of its efforts to take its message of “Reset Nigeria” to different parts of the country.
