2027: Ilaro group pledges 60,000 votes for Yayi

The Ilaro Parapo socio-cultural group has pledged to secure 60,000 votes for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Yayi, in Ilaro District in the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

The group announced its vote goal at an engagement programme in Ilaro on Saturday, 17 October, 2026, as Adeola seeks to become the state governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, expressed confidence that the district would deliver the votes, citing his relationship with constituents and infrastructure projects in Ilaro.

The group’s pledge gives a numerical measure of the support it intends to mobilise for the APC candidate in his home senatorial district.

Projects underpin vote pledge

Adeola pointed to road construction, healthcare, education, electricity and security projects as evidence of his interventions in Ilaro.

He said the projects had improved the town’s appearance and economic activities, describing its transformation as that of a “small London”.

The senator also cited his legislative work on upgrading the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro. He said the proposal was intended to establish the town as a centre for higher education and human capital development.

He thanked the group for its reception and said his development agenda would extend beyond Ogun West to all three senatorial districts in the state.

The engagement, themed “Unity, Development and Political Future of Ilaro District”, also featured discussions on unity, sustainable development and political participation.

In his welcome address, Omoba Segun Adewale, known as OSA, said the gathering showed Ilaro indigenes’ resolve to strengthen political participation and pursue development for the town and Ogun West.

Professors Tope Popoola and Taiwo Edun, alongside Dr Mukhail Akinde, delivered lectures at the event.
