Demonstrate patriotism, discipline throughout your service year — Gov Adeleke to corps members
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged members of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to demonstrate patriotism, discipline and responsibility throughout their service year.
Governor Adeleke who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Moshood Olagunju made the call on Friday, during the swearing-in and official opening ceremony of the NYSC 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
The governor while welcoming the corps members to Osun State, described the NYSC as an important national institution for promoting unity, integration and responsible citizenship among Nigerian youths.
“Having taken the National Pledge and Oath of Allegiance, I urge the corps members to approach their national assignment with “patriotism, discipline, humility and a strong sense of responsibility.
“Embrace Nigeria’s diversity by building relationships across ethnic, religious and cultural boundaries. Your deployment to Osun should be seen as an opportunity to contribute to the development of the state and country,” he stressed.
Adeleke also reaffirmed the Osun State Government’s commitment to the welfare, security and general well-being of corps members serving in the state.
He assured the NYSC leadership and corps members that the ongoing rehabilitation and renovation of the Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede would continue until the facility becomes one of the best Orientation Camps in the Federation.
The governor commended the NYSC leadership, particularly the Director-General, Brigadier General OO Nafiu, State Coordinator, Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, management and staff of the Osun Secretariat, as well as corps members who participated in the August 15, 2026 off-cycle governorship election in the state.
Earlier, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, said the orientation course was designed to prepare corps members mentally, physically and socially for the responsibilities ahead, through military drills, physical training, lectures, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship development, cultural activities and community development sensitisation.
Kubiangha appealed to Adeleke to provide additional double bunks to accommodate the increased number of prospective corps members, including those deployed from Lagos and Ekiti States.
He urged the corps members to obey camp rules, remain security-conscious and use social media responsibly, assuring them of the NYSC’s commitment to their safety and welfare.
As at the time of the swearing-in, a total number of 2,437 corps members have been registered.
