“Do not be deceived by a man who abandoned his own house” — Anambra govt attacks Peter Obi

The Anambra State Government has urged voters in the state to resist Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, in the 2027 general election.
The call was made on Monday through the official X account managed by the New Media office of Governor Charles Soludo, where the state government accused the former Anambra governor of abandoning and working against the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Anambra govt accuses Obi of betraying APGA
In a message directed at APGA supporters, the state government described Obi as a betrayer and urged party members to defend the party ahead of the 2027 election.
The government said, “A betrayal alert for Ndi APGA. Since 2014, Obi has had one mission: to destroy the party that made him.”
It further alleged, “In 2015, while President Tinubu stood with APGA, Obi backed the opposition to bury us. Do not be deceived by a man who abandoned his own house.”
The statement ended with a direct appeal to APGA supporters, saying, “Anambra is APGA. Ndi APGA, defend your home, resist the NDC.”
Soludo, Obi tensions deepen
The latest development comes amid an ongoing political disagreement between Soludo and Obi over financial obligations linked to projects implemented during Obi’s tenure as governor.
Obi has rejected the state government’s characterisation of the obligations as debts left by him, arguing that they largely involved World Bank and International Fund for Agricultural Development programmes accessed through federal and state arrangements.
Meanwhile, Obi has not publicly responded to the latest accusation of betrayal.
Soludo has previously declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, while APGA also endorsed Tinubu as its preferred presidential candidate.
