Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has urged people not to lose their identity, self-worth and ambitions while pursuing romantic relationships.
The Press Nigeria reports that Akindele shared the advice on her Instagram page on Thursday, reflecting on the hard work, sacrifices and sleepless nights people endure while building their careers and pursuing their dreams.
The award-winning filmmaker stressed that although falling in love was not wrong, people should avoid allowing romantic relationships to derail their personal goals.
“Nothing wrong with falling in love o! Just don’t lose yourself,” she said.
Akindele encouraged people to recognise their worth, establish healthy boundaries and remain committed to their aspirations rather than abandoning their dreams to satisfy their partners.
She further emphasised the importance of self-love and maintaining focus, reminding her followers that personal growth should not be sacrificed in the pursuit of romantic happiness.
“Know your worth, stay focused and love yourself first,” she added.
The filmmaker also acknowledged that the message was a personal reminder, noting, “I’m preaching to myself too!”
