Former gov Badaru credits Tinubu with improved security in northern Nigeria

Former Jigawa State Governor Mohammad Badaru Abubakar has credited President Bola Tinubu’s administration with improved security in northern Nigeria, saying people are returning to farms and travelling on roads they once feared.
Abubakar made the assessment on Saturday in Abuja during the commissioning of the secretariat of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a campaign group working to secure a second term for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027.
He cited security, infrastructure, education and social investment as reasons the North should support the President’s re-election.
“On security, the question that weighs most heavily on every home in the North, there has been a significant improvement. Our people are returning to their farms. Roads once feared are being travelled again. Communities that lived in dread are rebuilding in hope,” Abubakar said.
He acknowledged that more work was needed but maintained that progress had been made. He also thanked members of the armed forces and other security agencies for their contributions.
A4A cites security gains in re-election campaign
Abubakar said the campaign group would take its message to communities across northern Nigeria through governors, legislators, traditional institutions and young people.
He said its mobilisation would cover wards, local government areas and states, with campaign members engaging residents in markets, farms, schools, mosques and churches.
“With the inauguration of this edifice, the work begins in earnest. From the national level to the states and the local governments, from the wards down to the polling units, the A4A family will mobilise, will listen and will explain,” he said.

Abubakar also identified infrastructure, education and social investment as areas where the administration had delivered results.
He said road, bridge, railway and power projects were taking shape, connecting markets, farmers and communities. He also said the student loan initiative had given young people who could not afford tuition an opportunity to attend university.
The former governor said the administration had taken difficult but necessary decisions for the country’s future and reaffirmed the group’s support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He also explained that the campaign headquarters was a three-block complex of three-storey buildings. The facility has offices, a conference room and a situation room for monitoring and directing campaign activities.
APC chairman predicts over 70 per cent northern votes
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, predicted that Tinubu would secure more than 70 per cent of votes cast in northern Nigeria in the 2027 presidential election.
Yilwatda spoke at the same event, urging people in the region to support the President’s re-election. He cited road construction, railway projects, healthcare services, irrigation dams, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as reasons for his prediction.
He also praised the administration for including people from different religious and ethnic groups in its governance.
Yilwatda said the joint ticket of Tinubu and Shettima should be returned for a second term, citing the Vice President’s position as one reason for northern support.
On roads, he listed routes connecting Abuja, Kaduna and Kano, as well as the Kano-Maiduguri road. He put the combined length of the two routes at more than 900 kilometres.
He also cited road projects connecting Ilorin, Niger, Kebbi, Sokoto and Illela, alongside other routes across northern states.
Yilwatda said the administration had carried out road projects across all geopolitical zones in the North. He also cited healthcare centres, free medical services for pregnant women and railway projects as reasons for the region to support Tinubu.
The APC chairman said the President could secure more than 70 per cent of northern votes if supporters won in their hometowns and polling units.
He also pointed to the presence of former governors, serving governors, former senators and other political figures at the event as he appealed for support.
