Hon. James Abiodun Faleke holds stakeholders’ community meeting with landlords, residents, religious groups, CDA & CDC

Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, MHR, Ikeja Federal Constituency, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, held a stakeholders’ community meeting with representatives of landlords’ and residents’ associations, religious groups, Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs) at the LTV 8 Blue Roof Arena.

 

The interactive meeting was convened to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to present the challenges confronting their various communities, ask questions and receive responses from the lawmaker. It also provided a platform for Hon. Faleke to give an account of his representation and highlight some of the dividends of democracy delivered to the people of Ikeja Federal Constituency.

 

The meeting also featured extensive discussions on the policies and programmes of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly in the areas of human capital development, youth empowerment, economic reforms, infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, agriculture and workers’ welfare.

 

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion, apart from the convener, Hon. Faleke, was the former Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun; former National Legal Adviser of the APC, Hon. Ogala; and the Director-General, Directorate CCCC, Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon. Adeyinka Jeje.

 

The Executive Chairmen of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Akeem Dauda; Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Moyosore; and Ojodu LCDA, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, also attended the meeting.

 

Also present were the three LGA party chairmen across Ikeja Federal Constituency, ably led by the Chairman of Chairmen, Alhaja Stella Olusola Kokumo. Others included Hon. Adetoro Adebowale, Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Tunde Obanubi of Onigbongbo LCDA, and other party leaders and stakeholders.

 

Other notable leaders at the meeting included Hon. Agbosasa, Hon. Anisere, Apostle Olowoporoku, Hon. Tayo Orekoya and Hon. Onifade.

 

 

Alhaja Kokumo Commends Faleke’s Achievements

In her opening remarks on behalf of the LGA chairmen, Alhaja Stella Olusola Kokumo showered encomiums on Hon. Faleke for his achievements and contributions to the development of Ikeja Federal Constituency and beyond.

 

She commended his commitment to the people and prayed for the continuation of his service to the constituency. She also urged the gathering to support and vote for Hon. Faleke and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections to enable them deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.

 

 

Council Chairmen Highlight Achievements

The Executive Chairmen of Ikeja Local Government, Onigbongbo LCDA and Ojodu LCDA took turns to highlight some of their achievements and efforts to bring governance closer to the grassroots.

 

They spoke on developments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, empowerment and other areas of local governance, attributing the increased capacity of the third tier of government to implement projects to the improved monthly allocations to local governments.

 

 

Hon. Ogala Applauds Faleke’s Representation

Corroborating the submissions of the council chairmen, Hon. Ogala commended the quality of Hon. Faleke’s representation, describing him as an experienced and highly respected ranking member of the House of Representatives.

 

He particularly highlighted Hon. Faleke’s position as Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, noting that the position had been utilised to advance the interests of his constituents. He described the achievement as remarkable, particularly considering that such a position is not commonly attained by a first-term member of the House.

 

 

Wale Edun Commends Faleke

The former Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, also expressed his appreciation to Hon. Faleke for his support and role as a link between him and members of the House of Representatives during his tenure as Minister.

 

Mr. Edun urged party members and the electorate in Ikeja Federal Constituency to support Hon. Faleke’s return to the House of Representatives and also vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

 

 

Faleke Highlights Constituency Projects

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Faleke highlighted several projects and programmes undertaken across Ikeja Federal Constituency between 2019 and 2026.

 

Among them are:

 

– Training and skills-development programmes;

– Youth empowerment programmes;

– Construction and reconstruction of roads with drainage infrastructure;

– The Light Up the Streets in the Ikeja project;

– Installation of solar-powered street lights along major roads and routes;

– Employment and empowerment opportunities for unemployed constituents; and

– Educational projects and interventions.

 

Hon. Faleke also took the gathering down memory lane, highlighting what he described as significant changes under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 

He cited the removal of fuel subsidy, efforts towards economic reforms, improved agricultural development, interventions in infrastructure and the stoppage of prolonged ASUU strikes and the introduction of NELFUND for students in tertiary institutions, among other developments.

 

Questions, Answers and Feedback

The lawmaker thereafter responded to questions, observations and complaints raised by constituents and stakeholders. He assured them that their concerns would receive appropriate attention and promised to continue working towards addressing the needs of the people.

 

The meeting ended on a positive note, with stakeholders expressing appreciation for the opportunity to interact directly with their representative, raise concerns and receive feedback.

 

The gathering also reaffirmed the importance of sustained engagement between elected representatives, government at all levels and the people at the grassroots. Participants expressed their commitment to supporting the developmental efforts of Hon. Faleke and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while pledging their support through their votes in the forthcoming elections.
