“I Pay $800 Monthly For Everything”- Nigerian Man In Canada Speaks On Rent And Utility Bills

  • A Nigerian man living in Canada shared his monthly housing costs online.
  • He pays $800 per month for accommodation, which includes utilities.
  • The comparison highlights differences in housing expenses between Canada and Nigeria.

A Nigerian man based in Canada has sparked reactions online after comparing his monthly housing expenses abroad with the cost of paying rent and utility bills in Nigeria.

The man revealed that he pays $800 every month for his accommodation in Canada, adding that the amount covers his electricity, water and gas bills.

According to him, he makes the payment once a month and does not have to make separate payments for the utilities covered by his rent throughout the billing period.

He explained that the $800 he spends on accommodation represents roughly four days of his earnings in Canada.

The Nigerian also claimed that some Nigerians living abroad sometimes make the cost of living appear more expensive than it is when speaking with their relatives and friends back home, particularly when discussing household bills.

He stressed that once he pays his monthly rent, he does not have to worry about additional payments for electricity, water and gas for that month.

Comparing the situation with Nigeria, he suggested that residents at home often deal with several separate expenses and may have to make payments more frequently.

“Your families over here will be shouting bills as if they pay it every week,” he remarked.

The man went on to attribute the affordability of his utility expenses to the quality of governance in Canada. He argued against the notion that such living conditions are solely determined by prayers.

He also criticised some Nigerian pastors and questioned the credibility of certain religious figures, mentioning Apostle Arome Osayi in his remarks and alleging that some pastors are fake.

His comments have generated reactions on social media, with users discussing the differences between living expenses in Nigeria and Canada.

Some also debated whether rent packages that include electricity, water and gas are common across different parts of Canada, as housing and utility arrangements can vary depending on the property and location.
