Nigerian content creator Tomisin has shared her experience of walking through the streets of Benin Republic late at night, saying she felt unusually safe despite being surrounded by several people.
According to Tomisin, she was out around 11:30 p.m. when he walked past several men without feeling threatened or worried that she might be harassed.
She contrasted the experience with what she believes would have happened if she attempted the same thing in Lagos, noting that she would not feel comfortable taking such a risk in the Nigerian city.
Sharing her experience, Tomisin said:
“I’m Walking The Streets Of Benin Republic At 11:30 PM, And I Just Walked Past Several Guys Without Feeling Scared That Something Bad Might Happen To Me Or Getting H@rassed By Anyone. If This Were Lagos, It Would Be a Different Story. Benin Republic Is So Safe, Lagosians Cannot Relate. I Cannot Try This In Lagos.”
