  • David Umahi, Minister of Works, commented on the 2027 governorship race in Ebonyi State.
  • He advocates for the principle of rotation in leadership positions.
  • Umahi believes this principle should apply to both the presidency and the governorship of Ebonyi State.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has stirred reactions with his comments on the 2027 governorship race in Ebonyi State.

Umahi said the principle of rotation should apply not only to the presidency but also to the governorship of Ebonyi State.

Speaking on the political contest, the former Ebonyi State governor said it was not yet the turn of Ebonyi South to produce the next governor, just as he argued that it was not the turn of the South-East and Peter Obi to occupy the presidency.

Umahi also disclosed that he would speak with Anyi Chuks and ask him to step down from his governorship ambition, stressing that political positions should be pursued according to the principle of rotation.

In his words:

“Just Like It’s Not The Turn Of The South East And Peter Obi To Be President Of Nigeria, It’s Not The Turn Of Ebonyi South To Be Governor Of Ebonyi State. So I Will Go And Talk To Anyi Chuks To Step Down From His Governorship Campaign. It’s Turn By Turn.”

His remarks have added another dimension to discussions surrounding the zoning and rotational arrangements ahead of the 2027 Ebonyi State governorship election.

They keep turning it within their own cycles while the people suffer. Nigerians, when is it going to be your turn to enjoy? When will this turn by turn politics finally translate into something good for ordinary Nigerians?”

@Dark Lord:”In a country where competence is supposed to decide who leads, we’re still stuck with “turn by turn” politics. Where else is this version of democracy practiced? Merit should matter more than whose zone’s turn it is.”
