  • The supporter urges Nigerians to show compassion and allow the widow to grieve.

A Nigerian woman has come to the defence of the late gospel singer Toluwanisings’ widow following the backlash she reportedly received over her objection to burying her husband inside their home.

In a Facebook post, the woman appealed to Nigerians to show compassion to the bereaved widow and allow her to grieve without being subjected to criticism over her husband’s burial arrangements.

She argued that the widow’s preference for a cemetery burial should not be interpreted as a lack of love for her late husband, pointing out that they shared two children together.

Expressing concern over the criticism directed at the woman, she urged social media users to consider the emotional pain she was experiencing following her husband’s death.

“Nigerians, please give me one good reason you’re attacking this woman while she’s still mourning her husband,” she wrote.

The woman also noted that the widow was only 31 years old, questioning why people would expect her to remain in a state of constant grief. She maintained that choosing not to have her husband buried at home did not mean she loved him any less.

She further asked critics to consider how difficult it could be for the widow to continue living and sleeping in the same compound where her husband was laid to rest.

Reacting to speculation that the widow might be interested in selling the house, the woman urged Nigerians to avoid making such assumptions, particularly while the family was still mourning.

She questioned why people would attribute such intentions to the widow without considering the circumstances surrounding her loss and the welfare of her two children.

The woman stressed that nobody could take the late singer’s place in his widow’s life, adding that the pain of losing a loved one would not simply disappear.

Beyond defending the widow, she used the controversy to encourage Nigerians to make their wishes known before their deaths.

She advised people to prepare their wills and clearly document their preferred funeral arrangements, including where they would like to be buried. According to her, taking such steps could help prevent disagreements among family members after their passing.

She also described Ebony Vaults in Ikoyi as a suitable resting place for Toluwanisings, expressing her view that it would be an appropriate location for his final burial.

The controversy follows reports of a disagreement between the late singer’s father and his widow over where he should be buried.

According to reports, his father wanted him laid to rest inside the house he built, while his widow reportedly opposed the arrangement because she would have to continue living in a home where her husband was buried.

The singer’s father was also said to have suggested that his son could be taken to their village and buried beside his late mother.

Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on October 14, 2026.

The disagreement over his final resting place has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians supporting his father’s wishes while others have expressed sympathy for his widow.
