Sowore rejects opposition coalition, says members are no different from Tinubu

The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has rejected the opposition coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other political leaders, saying its members are no different from President Bola Tinubu.
Sowore made the statement during an interview on the Deep Insight Podcast on Monday, where he criticised the coalition’s motives and questioned its ability to offer Nigerians a genuine alternative.
He argued that the coalition comprised politicians who had contributed to the country’s problems and were now coming together to gain political power rather than transform Nigeria.
The AAC candidate maintained that he would not join the alliance, even if its primary objective was to remove Tinubu from office.

“Opposition coalition members are not different from Tinubu. They are all the same. I can’t be part of a coalition of indecent people just to remove Tinubu,” he said.
He insisted that Nigeria needed a genuine political alternative rather than a return to leadership by established politicians whom he blamed for the country’s challenges.
Sowore’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts by opposition figures to build political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections. His comments highlight disagreements within the opposition over whether a broad coalition is the best route to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
