“Tinubu must go” — Sowore leads protest in Abuja, chants for President’s exit

African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has led a protest in Abuja demanding the exit of President Bola Tinubu.

Sowore was seen at the head of the demonstration as protesters moved through parts of Nigeria’s capital, chanting, “Tinubu must go” and displaying placards bearing the same message.

The protest has drawn attention as Sowore continues to be one of the prominent voices opposing the Tinubu administration and its policies.

A video from the demonstration showed Sowore walking ahead of the protesters while leading chants against the President.

The protesters also carried placards featuring Tinubu’s image alongside the inscription, “Tinubu must go”.

The demonstration comes amid Sowore’s ongoing legal battle involving the President.

Sowore is standing trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a two count charge relating to alleged cyberstalking and criminal defamation of Tinubu.

Sowore faces trial over social media posts

The case was instituted by the Department of State Services, DSS, under the amended Cybercrimes Act.

According to the report, the charges stem from social media posts Sowore made in August 2025, in which he described Tinubu as a “criminal”.

The latest protest adds another public confrontation between Sowore and the President to the political conversation ahead of Nigeria’s next general election.

The demonstration is likely to keep Sowore’s opposition to the Tinubu administration in the spotlight as his legal proceedings continue.
