United States of Biafra alleges DSS abducted defence secretary Gen Rabbi

The United States of Biafra (USB) has accused operatives of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) of abducting its Secretary of Defence, Gen. Rabbi, in Ankpa, Kogi State.

The allegation was contained in a press release dated 29 October, 2026, and signed by Dr Ngozi Orabueze, Deputy Prime Minister of the USB. The group also alleged that the security operatives took Rabbi’s pastor, Sam Awodi, before using him to lure the defence secretary.

The USB said Rabbi was on his way to assist Awodi, who had contacted him over a broken motorcycle, when the incident happened.

It claimed that Rabbi later informed his mother that the men who took him were DSS operatives. He reportedly told her they were taking him to the DSS office in Ankpa Area 1, Kogi State.

The group did not report any contact with Rabbi after he allegedly informed his mother of his destination.

Pastor allegedly used to lure defence secretary

The USB alleged that Awodi, pastor of Generation of God Bible Church in Ankpa, was first taken by the security operatives.

It claimed that the pastor’s situation led Rabbi to arrange emergency assistance, which the DSS operatives allegedly used to apprehend him.

The group rejected the description of the incident as an arrest, insisting that its defence secretary was forcefully taken.

It also maintained that Rabbi had committed no crime, describing his involvement in the Biafran self-determination campaign as the reason for his alleged detention.

The USB accused the Nigerian government of targeting its leadership over its demand for an independent Biafran state.

USB demands release, UN action against Nigeria

The group demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Rabbi and other people it identified as USB detainees held by the DSS.

It also called for Nigeria’s removal from the United Nations Human Rights Council, arguing that the country’s continued membership would amount to international support for terrorism.

The USB appealed to the United Nations, United States, African Union and European Union to take note of Rabbi’s alleged abduction.

Orabueze further held the Nigerian government and DSS responsible for the defence secretary’s safety, warning that nothing should happen to him.

The USB also mentioned the detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the situation of Prime Minister Simon Ekpa in Finland.

The group alleged that Kanu had been illegally detained and persecuted. It also accused Nigeria of using political pressure to target Ekpa in Finland.

The group presented the alleged abduction of Rabbi as part of what it called a coordinated attack on Biafran leadership.

WHAT READERS SHOULD KNOW

The allegations against the DSS and the account of Rabbi’s removal came from the USB government through its Deputy Prime Minister, Ngozi Orabueze.

The group confirmed Ankpa Area 1 as the DSS office where Rabbi allegedly said he was being taken.

Its demands include Rabbi’s release, the release of other USB detainees and Nigeria’s removal from the UN Human Rights Council.
